SECOND PHASE OF TRANSFORMER STATION "NIS 8" CONSTRUCTION – up to the end of 2010

Minister of Energy and Mining, Prof. Dr. Petar Škundrić said in Nis that over the next five to seven years into Serbian electroenergetics will be invested nine billion Euros and it would be the most creative period of development in the last 30 years. The value of the investments in the first phase of construction TS "Nis 8" amounted to two million Euros."In the construction of new capacities will be invested five, and in the reconstruction of the existing four billion Euros," said Minister Škundrić while opening substations TS 110/10 xv "Nis 8» in the settlement of "Ledena Stena", Palilula. He noted that in these were not included the investments in renewable energy. Minister Škundrić estimated that the Electric Power Industry of Serbia in the best possible way fulfills its mission and that during the last year it achieved a growth of three percent and that in the first quarter this growth in electricity is two percent. "I expect that in this year, an increase of three percent we exceed and become exporters of electricity," said Škundrić.
He said that the completion of the first phase of the substation "Nis 8" is extremely important project from the perspective of one of the largest hub in the Balkans, located in Nis, and from the standpoint of economic construction and other infrastructure along Corridor 10. Škundrić said that the current are the works on stabilization analysis to build gas power plant in Nis, and that for this city will be of great importance the building of the main pipeline to the Bulgarian border interconnection on the route from the border to Sofia in Bulgaria and Dubnica. "We have received firm assurances from the European Commission to financially participate in the project, and the Bulgarian side has provided 60 million Euros for its share of the project," noted Škundrić.
Minister of Energy and Mining, Prof. Dr. Peter Škundrić announced that the second phase of construction of substations "Nis 8" will be completed by the end of this year.
Chairman of the Board of EPS Aca Markovic said that last year our country exported 1.2 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity, and that in the first quarter of this year, the exports amounted to 400 million kilowatt-hour of electricity.
Markovic said that the EPS in the last couple of six months has opened five substations and that by the end of the year will have been finished three more. The total investment in the first phase of construction TS "Nis 8" amounts to two million Euros.
